Mowbray Family of County Durham and Northumberland
This line of the Mowbrays can trace itself back to Stanhope and Bishopley in County Durham. The Mowbrays then moved to Frosterley and Wolsingham before moving on to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Several of the Newcastle Mowbrays became Master Mariners. A few became "Flax Merchants". |

William Whitby MOWBRAY (1812-1875), also a Master Mariner, eventually moved to Rotherhithe, Surrey. He married Ruth Charlotte Elizabeth WRIGHT of Yarmouth, Norfolk. In the 1871 census, he is listed as a "Ship's Chandler". He died in Greenwich, Surrey. Their children are:

Daniel Mowbray, settled in Malaga, Andalucia, Spain where he was a forwarding agent. Daniel married Marie Conceptionie de CAMILLE and they had seven children. As with the Spanish naming convention, all the children have CAMILE as their surname and MOWBRAY as a middle name. Daniel was buried in December 1870 in the English Cemetery in Malaga.
